The arrogant insolence; A letter to Priyanka Vadhra

Ah! The arrogance of it! You would live a imperial life in a free government accommodation, travel across continents at tax payer’s cost, whizz past all security checks like an extra constitutional authority for five years, and at elections time, land up in dirty, dark & stinking lanes of Amethi, armed with tear jerker stories of your ancestors, fake graciousness & temporarily worn Indianness, to save your kid brother from losing his seat and believe that the voter would get swayed by the dimples, flashing smiles & handloom saaris? In your arrogance, you may still believe, but at your own peril, that the innocent Amethi voter is still willing to get exploited by fake royalty.   Your kid brother who has no achievement to his credit other than being born in Gandhi family, has failed consistently in all that he has undertaken in life, cannot muster courage to speak in Parliament, cannot face a fixed interview, runs to you; the elder sibling at slightest troub...

Hang Amit Shah: a UP common man demands

Image
This piece was written as a retort to the " Leave Amit Shah alone: A loyal fan’s defence" by  Overrated Outcast. It can be read here. Who is this guy, Amit Shah? Comes into our peaceful, almost tranquil life & talks of such horrible words like revenge? By the way, revenge for what? For those few people killed during riots or some rapes? How many were killed in riots? 50? That is all? The notion of revenge for 50 deaths is laughable, indeed. That many murders, happening in a UP district, in a week, don’t even get reported to police, forget about overcoming the tyranny of distance to Delhi (100 kms is long distance, you know). Does he know that over 5000 people are murdered in UP every year? And he wants us to avenge some small issue of 50 corpses? Does he know that hundreds die of Malaria, every month, in every district? Thousands die on the potholes riddled roads while searching for someone who can give them basic medicines. Lacs die due to water borne ...

Wake up Mr. Vinod Mehta, clear your cobwebs

This article is written as a response to  Vinod Mehta’s article titled “Should we give Narendra Modi a Chance” in Hindustan Times dated March 16 th . Vinod Mehta's article can be read here.  http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home/stoi/all-that-matters/Should-we-give-Narendra-Modi-a-chance/articleshow/32113843.cms I write this article with great circumspection. There is a great chance that it would not be understood given that it would be read wearing the same spectacles of so called liberalism hidden behind a minorityism that was employed while writing the original. But it has to be written because the blinkers have to be broken through. Off course, I am not in the D K Barooah league of sycophancy rather I am driven more by a sense of duty , akin to what Yudhishthira felt in Mahabharata, “I do because I must.” Without wasting more space, lets move to misgivings expressed by Vinod Mehta concerning our prospective prime minister, Narendra Modi. There are four conc...

A vote for Modi is a vote for myself - says a common man

Image
In this politically charged environment, a chance meeting with an old acquaintance is likely to turn into a discussion on parliamentary elections, and it did, today. An old friend, a small time contractor, came visiting and after a few minutes of chit chat & a cup of tea, obvious question reared its’ head, “Who are you planning to vote for?” He hesitated for a few seconds and then in a conspirational tone, began cautiously. “This is probably fifth time I will be voting and in all the previous elections, I have voted for members of a family. This family belongs to NCP & has a minister in Maharashtra government, one MP, one MLA and a Mayor. I know them, the know me, both of us come from same area of Maharashtra.  But this time, I am going to vote for myself.” I was surprised, naturally, and asked him if he was planning to contest elections. He laughed the question away & said, “I have been voting for people I know, people from my village, for their caste or ...

The gloomy world of an AAP follower

Image
Published on Faking News on March 3, 2014 Disclaimer: This diary page was forwarded to Faking News with the claim that it belongs to a member of AAP cadre. We make no claim of it being authentic but the circumstantial evidence points to that direction. “What should I do?” Dear Diary, You are the only one in the world who can empathize with me. At night, sleep eludes me. If sometimes it does come, I get nightmares, of being crushed or being blown up. I wake up in the middle of night, scared, shivering and perspiring with cold sweet. Days are as hellish as nights. Family ridicules me, neighbors deride me, females avoid me when I am around. I don’t know where to run, what to do. Let me explain. I have always been trying to remain close to my leader but inexplicably, for last one month or so, I am scared of being too close to him. Reason? He has surrounded himself in so much of gas that I am afraid of him. What if, someday, someone lights a cigarette / bidi in his pre...

Been opposing BJP and RSS for 7000 years, claims AAP leader

Image
Published on Faking News on 24th Feb 2014 New Delhi.  In a sensational claim, a senior AAP leader (name withheld on request) has claimed that he and his party have been fighting the fascism of the BJP and the RSS for over 7000 years. He was responding to a  paid and corrupt  reporter’s questions on tendency of AAP to drag BJP and Narendra Modi’s name while opposing Congress’ corruption. Kaikeyi protesting to banish Rama from Ayodhya Stunned reporters pointed to the impossibility of the idea as AAP was only two years old, while BJP was founded around 30 years back and RSS was founded in the last century. Clarifying their doubts, the leader stated, “AAP as an idea was alive 7000 years back and as per the oldest recorded version of mythology. The founding member of AAP was Manthara, who protested against the dynastic and VIP culture of Dashratha in appointing his eldest son Rama as the crown prince, ignoring the claims of another AAP member Bharata.” “She i...

It is known for adhering to the brand promise and giving value for money.”  Spokesman of MSIL announced during a presser in Gurgaon. The Z-category security would be provided to Kejriwal both in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. “Our sources reveal that the said car has been modified using not only non compatible but also used, refurbished and defective components sourced from the junk yards.
