The arrogant insolence; A letter to Priyanka Vadhra

Ah! The arrogance of it!

You would live a imperial life in a free government accommodation, travel across continents at tax payer’s cost, whizz past all security checks like an extra constitutional authority for five years, and at elections time, land up in dirty, dark & stinking lanes of Amethi, armed with tear jerker stories of your ancestors, fake graciousness & temporarily worn Indianness, to save your kid brother from losing his seat and believe that the voter would get swayed by the dimples, flashing smiles & handloom saaris?

In your arrogance, you may still believe, but at your own peril, that the innocent Amethi voter is still willing to get exploited by fake royalty.

Your kid brother who has no achievement to his credit other than being born in Gandhi family, has failed consistently in all that he has undertaken in life, cannot muster courage to speak in Parliament, cannot face a fixed interview, runs to you; the elder sibling at slightest trouble like a kindergarten kid and you have the insolence to call a three time elected CM, a Prime Ministerial candidate, juvenile?

Probably, you know that the newstraders would prefer sensationalism over sense, style over substance & personal aggrandizement over truth. What these newstraders do not recognize is that the average Indian does not believe them anymore. If it did, we would all be content with the thought that your kid brother is the best thing that ever happened to India, after Ashoka, but we don’t. QED.

Despite the fact that you are known, chased & celebrated by paparazzi because of your surname, accrued to you because of your birth, with no other achievement in life to showcase, you display the supercilious & contemptuous haughtiness towards a committed, hardworking & respectable candidate of opposition? A candidate who did not need the crutches of borrowed family name to face the world and make it big in the competitive political environment of India.

But then, what would you know about hardwork? About commitment? About respect? Only thing that is taught to the children of your family is entitlement. Entitlement to positions of power, to unlimited authority without responsibility, to the resources of the country, to right to rule.

You would not talk of how your overbearing husband, the biggest icon of crony capitalism, made millions in barely legal deals, aided by the servile Chief Ministers & their supine governments, helped by crooked business houses, defended by the sycophantic & slavish Congressmen and protected by your family name but call others names?

You probably depend upon spinelessness of Congressmen who would crawl, kneel & prostrate before any nincompoop carrying ‘the’ surname. But these congressmen, like all sycophants do not like to be bearers of bad news. They would never say, “The emperor has no clothes”

They did not tell your brother about the derision with which public heard his meandering,  unfocused & comical speeches, his growing irrelevance to the political configuration and that he did not have it in him.
They did not tell him the simmering anger the voter has for fake royalty. They do not tell you that once the family’s vote catching abilities are seen to be all but over, they will dump you over the railing. They will also not tell you that the law is catching up.

But, time is up! Gandhis & Vadhras.
